We need to use the php-odbc modules for connecting to a Microsoft Database.

Issue

  • In order to connect to the database, we need an odbc driver. So we followed the instructions published by Microsoft

  • The problem is that it wants us to remove any old Redhat odbc manager first.

yum remove unixodbc
 ...                                         
Dependency Removed:
  php-odbc.x86_64 0:5.3.3-14.el6_3

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3
