Netfs will unmount NFS partitions leaving orphaned loopback devices when mounting /dev/loop devices over iSCSI
Issue
- When unmounting NFS partitions by stopping the
netfs
service loopback devices will not be deleted. This will result in a hang when rebooting the machine on a default setup. - When using Eucalyptus, shutdown of the machine fails. See Eucalyptus bug 3183
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3
- LVM or other command that issues IO to all known devices during shutdown
- NOTE: For LVM, this means /etc/lvm/lvm.conf contains a default filter line (filter = [ "a/.*/" ]) or a filter line that scans
/dev/loop*
devices
