Apache Portable Runtime (APR) not loading on JBoss EAP 5.0

Issue

  • The following error in server.log during startup on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 x86_64:
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no tcnative-1 in java.library.path, no libtcnative-1 in java.library.path 
    Can't find: /home/jboss/jboss-eap-5.0/jboss-as/server/default/bin/META-INF/lib/linux2/x64/libapr-1.dll
    
  • The following error in server.log during startup on Windows Server 2003 x86:

    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no tcnative-1 in java.library.path, no libtcnative-1 in java.library.path 
    Can't find: C:\Documents and Settings\jboss\My Documents\jboss\jboss-eap-5.0\jboss-as\server\454823\bin\META-INF\lib\windows\x86\libapr-1.dll (C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_18\bin;.;C:\WINDOWS\Sun\Java\bin;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem)
