gfs_grow fails to expand GFS filesystem

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When gfs_grow is ran on a GFS filesystem it appears to fail to expand the file-system.

  • When trying to extend a logical volume drive successfully and then running gfs_grow -v <logical vol dev>, it displays good information and then returns 0 as though the GFS expanded ok as well. But at the end of the process the Logical volume expanded perfectly but the gfs_grow did not expand itself, or did not show the expanded result in df.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5 (with the High Availability and Resilient Storage Add Ons)
  • GFS file-system
