block hardlimit (quota) doesn't work on ext4 filesystem

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • I set quota block hardlmit, but I could create a file even if the file size exceeded the quota block hardlimit.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 alpha1
  • Kernel Version: 2.6.29.4-1.el6

Diagnostic Steps (internal)

  • Step to reproduce
    1. Create an ext4 filesystem without additional options (mkfs -t ext4 /dev/XXX).
    2. Mount the filesystem with quota option (mount -o usrquota /dev/XXX /MNT).
    3. Set quota block hardlimit on the filesystem.
    4. Create a file whose size exceeds quota block hardlimit on the filesystem.
