How can I do if no "messages" file in /var/log/ directory, but "messages.1" through "messages.4" exist?
Issue
The "messages" file in /var/log is gone, after restarting "syslog" service, there are only messages.1-messages.4 in /var/log directory, but no new files or "messages" can be created. Because there are no messages, so there will be no log to debug the problem.
Environment
Red Hat Enterprise Linux all versions.
