RabbitMQ logs are not properly rotated

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • RabbitMQ logs are not properly rotated. The supposed current log (rabbit@example-rabbitmq-001.log) has zero size and older time stamp. RabbitMQ continues writing to the previous log file. For example
[root@csl-a-rabbitmq-001 rabbitmq]# ll -rt
-rw-r--r--. 1 rabbitmq rabbitmq 0 Sep 16 03:14 rabbit@example-rabbitmq-001.log
-rw-r--r--. 1 rabbitmq rabbitmq 4981057 Sep 25 21:32 rabbit@example-rabbitmq-001.log-20150916

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 5, 6, 7
  • Red Hat OpenStack Platform 9,10
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • rabbitmq-server-3.3.5-3.el7ost.noarch (RHEL OSP 5 on RHEL 7, RHEL OSP 6 and RHEL OSP 7)
  • openstack-selinux version prior to openstack-selinux-0.8.14-1.el7ost(OSP 9 and 10)
