Ceph OSD fails to restart with "lock_fsid failed to lock /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-X/fsid is another ceph-osd still running" in OSD logs
Issue
- When restarting the ceph service some OSDs fail to start with the following log message in
/var/log/ceph-osd.#.log:
2015-09-25 17:03:54.199295 7f1633f9c7c0 0 filestore(/var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-104) lock_fsid failed to lock /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-104/fsid, is another ceph-osd still running? (11) Resource temporarily unavailable
2015-09-25 17:03:54.199309 7f1633f9c7c0 -1 filestore(/var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-104) FileStore::mount: lock_fsid failed
2015-09-25 17:03:54.199318 7f1633f9c7c0 -1 ** ERROR: error converting store /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-104: (16) Device or resource busy
- Starting the OSD manually using the following command works fine:
# service ceph start osd.#
