How to use the message filter in QMF methods?

Issue

Since MRG-M 2.1, some QMF methods have argument "filter" which should allow to specify only some selected messages. Examples of such methods are queueMoveMessages, purge or reroute. Unfortunately there is no word anywhere about the filter syntax and all our attempts failed. How to specify a valid filter?
