Behavior of Composite Content View and Normal Content View in satellite 6

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • Looking for information on how Composite Content View's work?

  • Here is an example:
Created a content view of RHEL7 and another content view of Puppet Modules. Then created a Composite Content view included Content View RHEL7 and Content View Puppet Modules. Is it possible to leave the other content views unpublished and publish the Composite Content View to include all the items in the environments or it is necessary to publish each content view to each environment and publish the composite content view to each environment? It's extremely cumbersome if that's the case.

  • For puppet modules can select use latest version, but if the version get's updated it won't propagate to the content view. In this case have to publish another content view to reflect the new version. It seems impossible to know every time there is an update and create a new version of it. Is there a way to say use latest version that when it updates gets used to servers assigned without publishing versions?
