Kdump does not drop to shell when it fails to collect vmcore.

Issue

  • "default shell" is defined in /etc/kdump.conf but still kdump does not drop to shell when it fails to collect vmcore and system simply reboots afterwards.
kdump: dump target is 
kdump: error: Dump target  is not mounted.
kdump: saving vmcore failed
Job for emergency.service canceled.
[    3.364147] systemd[1]: Stopping Sockets.
[    3.364690] systemd[1]: Stopped target Sockets.
