  • After network partition or event, we see stalled NFS tasks
  • NFS tasks which use RPC priority wait queues lead to poor performance
  • Failed RPC wakeups of RPC priority queued NFS rpc_tasks
  • NFS Client hang or pause occurs
  • NFS 4.1 hangs on failover of network or fail-over of NFS server

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • NFS Client
    • NFSv4.1 is especially vulnerable due to its extensive usage of priority wait queues
  • Seen with NFS4.1 file layout data server and failover testing
