"Unknown package arch found" and Red Hat Network failing to update system's profile

Issue

  • Regularly scheduled, as well as manual attempts, to update a number of RHN Profiles from the client side fail with the following errors.
up2date_client.up2dateErrors.CommunicationError:
    Error Message:
        Unknown package arch found
    Error Class Code: 45
    Error Class Info:
         Invalid architecture.

  • Red Hat Network
  • zLinux - rpm arch s390x
