Why can't a GPT partitioned volume be mounted?

Issue

  • A volume partitioned using parted (GPT) cannot be mounted.
  • parted reports the following: "Warning: /dev/sdx contains GPT signatures, indicating that it has a GPT table. However, it does not have a valid fake msdos partition table, as it should."

  • GPT Partitioned devices
