How to remove bricks from one volume and add them to an existing distributed-replicated volume

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

The current configuration contains two servers:

  • rhssa-001.example.com
  • rhssa-002.example.com

On one server an old volume data_tmp can be removed, and the brick from that volume re-used to extend the volume called data. The second server has a free brick already.

The output of gluster volume info looks like this:

[root@rhssa-001 ~]# gluster volume info

Volume Name: data
Type: Replicate
Status: Started
Number of Bricks: 2
Transport-type: tcp
Bricks:
Brick1: rhssa-001.example.com:/bricks/sdb2
Brick2: rhssa-002.example.com:/bricks/sdb2

Volume Name: data_tmp
Type: Distribute
Status: Stopped
Number of Bricks: 1
Transport-type: tcp
Bricks:
Brick1: rhssa-001.example.com:/bricks/sdb1
