Issue

  • Why Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x upgrade from disconnected Red Hat Satellite 5.6 fails with python-argparse package dependency?
  • With the release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7, the incremental ISO "RHEL 6 (x86_64) + EUS + AUS + RHN Proxy/Tools + Supplementary (Incremental 2014-12-31:2015-08-30)" provides package nfs-utils-1.2.3-64.el6.x86_64 which have dependency of package python-argparse-1.2.1-2.1.el6.noarch.rpm.
  • Try to update a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 from disconnected Red Hat Satellite server 5.6.

    --> Processing Dependency: python-argparse for package: 1:nfs-utils-1.2.3-64.el6.x86_64
    --> Finished Dependency Resolution
    Error: Package: 1:nfs-utils-1.2.3-64.el6.x86_64 (rhel-x86_64-workstation-6)
              Requires: python-argparse

    Required package is not present on satellite webui or server.
    It is part of base channel but on disconnected satellite even if the package is present it is not listed on webui.

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite 5.6 Disconnected
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x
