goferd memory leak and segfault when failing to connect to the Satellite/Capsule

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • After upgrading gofer to gofer-2.6.2-2.el7sat, gofer crashes regularly with a segmentation fault reported in the /var/log/messages.
  • Goferd in RHEL 6 is consuming all the memory; Restarting the goferd service is a workaround for a day and it starts to use more again. Need the permanent fix. only happening on RHEL 6 VMs.

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite or Capsule 6.1.x

  • Gofer package installed on content host:

    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 - gofer-2.6.2-2.el6sat
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 - gofer-2.6.2-2.el7sat
