Why is the kernel ignoring a TCP reset?
Issue
- We have a system running
2.6.32-504.23.4.el6.x86_64. On this system a connection to the server is showing up asESTABLISHEDwhile the server had sent aRSTcouple of hours back. We wanted to know if there is a known issue due to which the Kernel does not handleRSTcorrectly.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux
kernel-2.6.32-504.23.4.el6kernel-2.6.32-754.17.1.el6
- Non-RHEL remote end, including:
- Oracle Server running AIX 6.1 TL-07 SP-2
- Third-party connection-tracking device such as firewall or load balancer
