fencing using fence_ipmilan is not working

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • fencing not working while using fence_ipmilan as fence agent.
  • fence of node was unsuccessfull with fence_ipmilan fence agent.
  • fencing fails with Unable to obtain correct plug status or plug is not available#012 error
  • When fence_ipmilan command is executed, it shows following error:

    $ fence_ipmilan -v -a 192.168.0.10 -l username -p password -o status -t 30
    Getting status of IPMI:172.21.18.50...Spawning: '/usr/bin/ipmitool -I lan -H '172.21.18.50' -U 'admin' -P 'admin@123' -v chassis power status'...
    Chassis power = Unknown
    Failed
    

    But the ipmitool command for same IPMI device completes without any errors:

    $ ipmitool -H 192.168.0.10 -I lanplus -U username -P password chassis power status
    Chassis Power is on
    

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6
  • fence_ipmilan used for fencing
