Segfault with plasma-desktop in libplasma.so.3.0.0

Issue

  • We're seeing a lot of KDE desktop crashes on RHEL6u5 access servers.

  • In the syslog these are represented by lines like these:

    Aug 19 16:18:51 hostname kernel: plasma-desktop[14244]: segfault at 11 ip 0000003c454ffc42 sp 00007fff3bec4ac0 error 4 in libplasma.so.3.0.0[3c45400000+218000]

  • There is a canny similarity with the issues described in the following sources:

    • https://access.redhat.com/discussions/746893
    • https://access.redhat.com/solutions/755013
    • https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1070371
  • However these should be resolved with RHBH-2014:0904 and we are on RHBA-2015:1180.
