How can a php module be disabled in an OpenShift php application?

Issue

A specific php module must be disabled in a php application running on OpenShift. By default, OpenShift enables this module. How can the module be disabled?
- I´m trying to create an application containing owncloud following instructions on https://hub.openshift.com/quickstarts/4-owncloud. I get the error "PHP module GD not installed" when opening the page in browser. I tried to enable the extension in ~/php/configuration/etc/php.d/openshift.ini but openshift seems to change it back. How do I enable PHP extensions in openshift applications?

- When deploying owncloud in Openshift why we see below message in browser page :

Php GD module is not installed
