How to stop virtual machines running in Red Hat Cluster suite to convert it using virt-v2v to RHEV?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • A VM needs to be in a "stopped" state in order for virt-v2v to start the migration.

  • In a clustered RHEL HA VM environment clusvcadm is used to stop/disable a VM resource. This effectively "undefines" the VM, removing it from the control of libvirt and virsh.

  • virt-v2v is no longer able to recognize the VM via libvirt and migration is not possible.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
