`gnome-system-moniter ` shows less cores than the actual ones of the OS

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • gnome-system-moniter

Issue

  • Here is the 'actual' amounts of cpus and cores:

    # grep physical.id /proc/cpuinfo | sort -u | wc -l
    8
    # grep cpu.cores /proc/cpuinfo | sort -u
    cpu cores : 12
(`Hyper-Threading` is enabled,so the number of cores will be 12*8*2=192)

  • In System and Resources tabs of gnome-system-moniter the number of cores is less than 192.
