Host group settings are not applied when switching a machine's host group

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite or Proxy 6.x

Issue

  • Created a machine with host group "A" which applied specific settings (os, partition, etc.) and then want to change that host to be part of host group "B" the settings for the host are not applied. In this case, have to manually set OS, partition, architecture, etc.

Resolution

  • If tried to change the host group for a host, then succeeds but it does not changes all the associated parameters in the new host group like Operating system.

  • To change the individual parameter, users need to select the host and Click on Select Action button to choose change one of the parameters at a time.

  • The reported issue has been tracked in the below bugzilla tickets and engineering team is actively working on the fix.

  • As per the bugzilla details , the reported issue is proposed to be fixed in satellite 6.3 and 6.2 respectively.
