Compression ratio when makedumpfile compresses dump data
Issue
- I see kdump runs makedumpfile with -c option in /etc/kdump.conf.
path /var/crash
core_collector makedumpfile -c --message-level 1 -d 31
-
Looking at this knowledge base article I understand the compression ratio achieved using the "-c" option is entirely dependent on the content stored in RAM.
-
How much range of compression ratio can I expect?
