Kdump service fails to start due to missing of vmlinuz file

Issue

  • The "vmlinuz" file is missing after kernel update
  • Unable to boot the server after kernel update due to missing of vmlinuz file.
  • Kdump service fails to start and shows following error :
#service kdump start
No kdump kernel image found.                               [WARNING]
Tried to locate /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-431.11.2.el6.x86_64             << -- it is failing as the vmlinuz was removed
Starting kdump:                     [Failed]

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux [ALL]
