Missing redundant SAN path to the disk storage.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • After patching its discovered that the redundant SAN path to the disk storage is missing. Don't know if the path was missing before the patching. During the patching , updated the OS and HP SPP software. SAN administrator has indicated there are no issues from his perspective.

Before patching :

$ multipath -v2 -ll
mpathe (xxxxxxxxx) dm-2 HITACHI,OPEN-V
size=100G features='1 queue_if_no_path' hwhandler='0' wp=rw
`-+- policy='round-robin 0' prio=1 status=active
  |- 1:0:0:1 sdc 8:32  active ready running
  `- 2:0:0:1 sdh 8:112 active ready running

After patching ;

$ multipath -v2 -ll
mpathe (xxxxxxxxx) dm-2 HITACHI,OPEN-V
size=100G features='1 queue_if_no_path' hwhandler='0' wp=rw
`-+- policy='round-robin 0' prio=1 status=active
  `- 1:0:0:1 sdc 8:32 active ready running
