Why ejecting/ removing CD-ROM via rhevm-shell doesn't work in Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.5?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When logged onto the VM (Windows 2012 server) and went to Windows Explorer, the ISO was found attached.
  • It was removed from the RHEVM Shell:
[RHEVM shell (connected)]# remove cdrom 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 --vm-identifier <vm_name> --file-id RHEV-toolsSetup_3.5_9.iso

status-state: complete
  • While the RHEVM Shell claims the CD was removed, looking at the client shows it is present and trying to put the ISO storage domain into maintenance failed again and '' was still listed as a VM with the CD mounted.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.5
