How to enable ntpd in debug mode?

Please confirm if the below settings are correct for running ntpd in debug mode:

OPTIONS="-L -u ntp:ntp -p /var/run/ntpd.pid -g -D debug"
```
Please also confirm whether any performance issue or log size issues are possible after enabling ntpd debug?
