Can there be any issue in the Openshift Environment if some machines have RHEL 6.5 and others have RHEL 6.6
Environment
- Openshift Enterpise 2.2
Issue
- In Production environment, suppose we have an infrastructure with SO rhel 6.5 and openshift enterprise 2.1. and then we are asked to upgrade from rhel 6.5 to rhel 6.6 but, due to high number of VMs, will be done gradually. So, we will have a period with machines with rhel 6.5 and rhel 6.6. The our question is if that situation can generate problems to the openshift infrastructure.
Resolution
It is unlikely to generate problems except divergent behaviour for gears where one gear has PHP, JBoss, etc. from RHEL65 and another gear has those things from RHEL66. OSE v2 requires the latest RHEL as of the release data of OSE. The installation tool updates RHEL (yum upgrade).
Unless you are controlling the installation process using Satellite or manual intervention, oo-install/openshift.sh will update RHEL
There shouldn't be problems, but it could cause some confusion. So, ideally the RHEL65 host needs to be upgraded to RHEL66.
