RHEV-H network configuration fails with "Error while executing action Setup Networks: unexpected exception." or "'Ifcfg' object has no attribute 'runningConfig"

Issue

  • When trying to configure networking on a hypervisor, the admin portal presents this error:
Error while executing action Setup Networks: unexpected exception.
  • Looking in the /var/log/messages, the following error from vdsm may be present and correlate to the error in the admin portal:
