Is it safe to changing partition ID

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Issue

  • Is it safe to changing partition ID

Resolution

  • The partition ID is just a 'hint' to the software/application which will read that, it shouldn't interfere on the proper functionality of the partition i.e all the old data will by accessible and editable.

  • Recommeded to take the data backup before changing the partition ID's.
