Does the RHEL6 kernel support the dm-switch target?
Issue
- The RHEL7 kernel contains a new device-mapper target called "switch"
- Is this target also part of the RHEL6 kernel?
- The dm-switch target is created to take advantages of sending I/O requests to a node where the data is stored to avoid I/O forwarding. The storage system and architecture like EqualLogic and Nimble Storage, where volume could be spanned across several nodes, can use the module to achieve optimized performance.
- However, the RHEL 6 distributions does not come with the dm-switch target.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
- device-mapper
