Unclean shutdown of openldap in mirror mode replication

Issue

If openldap server is being shutdown while under heavy write load in mirror mode, it may result in a unclean shutdown. This result in an attempt for recovery when the daemon is turned on again :

slapd[16166]: bdb_db_open: database "dc=my,dc=example,dc=com": unclean shutdown detected; attempting recovery.
slapd[16166]: bdb_db_open: database "cn=log": unclean shutdown detected; attempting recovery.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux v.6
  • openldap-servers
  • OpenLDAP server configured in MirrorMode replication
