Is SUSE OS supported with JBoss Webserver ?

Issue

  • Need information about supportability of SUSE OS with JWS.
  • We want to deploy JBoss Web Server on SUSE. Is this something Red Hat supports? As far as we can see we do not ship a generic zip file like we do with EAP and according to JBoss Web Server 3 Supported Configurations it seems that Red Hat only supports JWS on RHEL or Windows Server 2012 R2. Is this really the case?

Resolution

  • As documented in JBoss Web Server 3 Supported Configurations in order to be running in a supported configuration, JWS must be running on one of the following operating systems and one of the following Technology Component Kit (TCK) certified JDKs. Red Hat relies on the TCK to validate platform compatibility. Red Hat has performed the full range of platform tests on the following configurations:

    • RHEL 7,
    • RHEL 6,
    • Microsoft Windows 2012 R2 Server.

  • Hence SUSE is not a supported OS for installing and running JWS 3.
