Maintain pool of HTTPS connections for another server

Issue

• We had Implemented security gate way that works as proxy between front end and back end systems, where front end systems mostly run on JBoss. We would like to minimize request processing time on Gate Way by removing SSL handshake.
• How to create and maintain pool of HTTPS connections and ensure that when front end system needs connection, handshake is already done.
