Firefox update breaks authentication

Issue

  • After applying RHSA-2015-0998, Firefox no longer works with some sites that prompt for authentication.
  • It repeatedly asks for your password, regardless of whether it is right or wrong.
  • Problem is observed only after upgrade to firefox 38
  • Downgrading firefox to the previous version (31) restores functionality.
  • Firefox 38.0 on Windows does not have this issue.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7
  • firefox-38.0
