Satellite 5.7 Web GUI Acess issue due to Internal Error

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite or Proxy 5.7

Issue

  • Not able to access Satellite 5.7 Web GUI using Admin user or any other user

Resolution

  • Database schema-version reported by the spacewalk-debug is "5.7.0.11-1" while the installed rpm reports
    has a higher version, for example:

    satellite-schema-5.7.0.14-1.el6sat.noarch

    or

    satellite-schema-5.7.0.19-1.el6sat.noarch

which means that the later rpm package is already installed but not applied. This is causing the GUI to be inaccessible. To resolve this issue, upgrade the database schema to the latest installed version;

How to upgrade the Satellite 5 database schema

Root Cause

  • Satellite-schema version mismatch with satellite schema rpm package installed:

Installed-rpms:

satellite-schema-5.7.0.14-1.el6sat.noarch or later
spacewalk-debug: schema-version 5.7.0.11-1.el6sat

Diagnostic Steps

  • Checking the spacewalk-debug and SOS logs, different version of satellite-schema found in logs :
$ cat database-schema-version
5.7.0.11-1.el6sat
$ more installed-rpms |grep schema
satellite-schema-5.7.0.14-1.el6sat.noarch
