On systems running ptp4l, is there anything else needs to be done to keep the time synced with regards to the leap second event?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • Can you please confirm: on systems running ptp4l, is there anything else needs to be done to keep the time synced?
  • As per the Red Hat Leap Second Article for June 30,2015, "...ptp4l and phc2sys will set the kernel flag to insert a leap second ...". However it's not clear how ptp4l/phc2sys will get the leap second information. Does /etc/localtime or tzdata need to be updated to contain the latest leap second for the reference of ptp4l/phc2sys?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • PTP
