On systems running ptp4l, is there anything else needs to be done to keep the time synced with regards to the leap second event?

ptp4l, is there anything else needs to be done to keep the time synced? - As per the Red Hat Leap Second Article for June 30,2015, "...
ptp4landphc2syswill set the kernel flag to insert a leap second ...". However it's not clear howptp4l/phc2syswill get the leap second information. Does/etc/localtimeortzdataneed to be updated to contain the latest leap second for the reference ofptp4l/phc2sys?
