Is it recommended to enable large pages with JBoss EAP even when Transparent Huge Pages is enabled ?

Issue

  • We are running jboss6 eap on rhel6.5 vm with the following specs:
cpu:4vCPU
mem: 32GB   
Transparent Huge Pages (THP): [always] madvise never

java_opt:
-Xms6144m -Xmx6144m -XX:CMSInitiatingOccupancyFraction=70 -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:-HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError -XX:MaxPermSize=1024m -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=3 -XX:NewRatio=2 -XX:PermSize=1024m
  • we want to know if Redhat recommends enabling large pages with JBoss EAP to improve performance even when THP is enabled ?
