How to change Compute Resource associated with VM profile?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite v 6

Issue

  • Is there possibility to change a compute resource associated with virtual machine (VM) profile?
    E.g. virtual machine is running in RHEV and has been provisioned using compute resource "CR1". Now I create new compute resource "CR2" (same RHEV) and I want to remove old one ("CR1"). How can I change associated compute resource with VM?

Resolution

Here are the steps to associate host profiles to the new profile of the same compute resource.

- Login to Red Hat Satellite v 6 webui.
- Hosts -> All Hosts
- Open the host profile which you want to change from one CR to other CR.
- Click on "Edit" -> Click on "Disassociate Host"
- Go to "Infrastructure" -> "Compute Resources" -> Click on the new CR profile created for RHEVM.
- Click on "Associate VMs"

Now go to Hosts -> All Hosts tab, check changes of compute resource in "Model" column for each host profile.
