RHEL dependency on host bus adapter (HBA) WWN or WWID?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • For boot from SAN servers or those with file systems from SAN, does RHEL handle change of WWPN/WWN of host bus adapter (HBA) seamlessly/automatically?.
    • For example: If the HBA is faulty and is replaced then there is a different WWPN/WWN for the HBA vs previously. Assuming that SAN zoning is updated to reflect this new HBA WWPN/WWN and storage presentation is updated with new HBA WWPN/WWN; Does RHEL automatically detect the assigned SAN disks and proceed to boot up without making changes in some configuration files within the operating system?
