net.ipv4.conf all or default settings in sysctl.conf do not apply in RHEL5

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • I have disabled settings in RHEL6 using lines in sysctl.conf such as:
net.ipv4.conf.all.accept_redirects=0
net.ipv4.conf.default.accept_redirects=0

In RHEL5 this does not work. I need to change the setting on every network interface card separately, which causes a very long sysctl.conf file.

Is it possible in RHEL5 to disable settings such as IP redirects in a short way, as I did in RHEL6? The config above does not work in RHEL5.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • Settings net.ipv4.conf.all or net.ipv4.conf.default in /etc/sysctl.conf
