NPE is thrown by importing a bpmn2 file to BPM Suite 6 that contains a Event node

  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Business Rule Management System (BRMS) 6.0.x.
  • Red Hat JBoss Business Process Management Suite (BPMS) 6.0.x

Issue

After pushing bpmn2 artifact, Business Central shows the following message for the file:

"unable to parse xml : Exception class java.lang.NullPointerException : null "

or

16:39:00,616 ERROR [stderr] (http-localhost.localdomain/127.0.0.1:8080-4) java.lang.NullPointerException
16:39:00,616 ERROR [stderr] (http-localhost.localdomain/127.0.0.1:8080-4)   at org.jbpm.designer.bpmn2.impl.Bpmn2JsonMarshaller.setCatchEventProperties(Bpmn2JsonMarshaller.java:427)

Resolution

The error states that there is a misconfiguration in the Event node properties, review if there is a mapping/data input or output configuration missing.
