Apache presenting machine certificate in place of correct SSL cert and chain

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

When I navigate to myserver.example.com in my browser, the certificate is shown to be for myoldserver.example.com

  • The SSL wildcard certificate presented to clients is not for the same domain the users are visiting.
  • I purchased an SSL wildcard certificate for all domains matching *.example.com.
  • My server use to be called myoldserver.example.com
  • The new name assigned to the server is myserver.example.com.
  • We are observing this kind of warning message [ssl:warn] [pid 149781:tid 149781] AH01909: myserver.example.com :443:0 server certificate does NOT include an ID which matches the server name; how do we stop such warning messages?
