Why are files on striped volumes on Red Hat Storage 2.0 allocated in full on bricks?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

When a file is copied onto a striped volume, the file is allocated in full on all the bricks where stripes should be stored. It is expected to only have partial files allocated on each brick, saving a lot of space.

Environment

  • Red Hat Storage 2.0
  • Striped volumes
