NetworkManager and the nmcli command return a 'symbol lookup error' in RHEL 7

Issue

  • The NetworkManager service fails and reports a 'symbol lookup error' in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and the network does not start:
NetworkManager[]: /usr/sbin/NetworkManager: symbol lookup error: /lib64/libgudev-1.0.so.0: unadjust_private_offset
  • Running the nmcli command returns an error in RHEL 7:
nmcli: symbol lookup error: /lib64/libgudev-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_type_class_adjust_private_offset
