Why a RHEL VM is facing problem in getting an ip address from the Windows DHCP server ?

Issue

  • An IP assignment issue is faced through the DHCP server which is running on windows 2012 deployed on on VMware vSphere 5.5
  • Need to run service network restart multiple times on the RHEL VM then VM gets an ip address.
  • Why this happens ? Why IP doesn't get assigned first time only ?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x
  • DHCP server running on Windows 2012
  • RHEL VM as a client running on VMware vSphere 5.5
