Suddenly lost network connection on NIC with nx_nic driver while physical links were fine on Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Issue

RHEL 5.5 production server lost network connection. After checking physical links/cables, we found that everything was fine. Indicators on NIC, switch were fine, but no link was detected in "ethtool" command. Re-setting interface didn't help, then rebooting the server brought connection back.
