Should I use a GFS or GFS2 file system for my MySQL cluster running on RHEL?

  • I am deploying a MySQL database cluster, and was considering GFS or GFS2 for the file system backing the databases. Is this appropriate?
  • Can I use GFS2 for MySQL?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5, 6, or 7 with the High Availability or Resilient Storage Add On
  • MySQL Cluster
